Groove Tracker Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
Groove Tracker is a music collection, setlist and DJ session management application developed by Appogenesis / Gavin Hamann.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Groove Tracker uses, how it is processed, and the choices available to users.
1. Information stored on your device
Groove Tracker is primarily a local-data application.
Your music collection, releases, tracks, setlists, application settings, DJ name, BPM information, notes and other information you enter into the app are stored locally on your device.
Photos that you add to your collection may also be stored locally by the application.
Groove Tracker does not operate its own cloud account system and does not require you to create a Groove Tracker account to use the app.
2. Discogs
Groove Tracker can optionally connect to Discogs to search for releases, look up barcodes, retrieve release and track information, obtain artwork, and import information from your Discogs collection.
If you use these features, relevant search terms, barcodes, release identifiers and requests are sent to Discogs.
You may also provide your own Discogs Personal Access Token (PAT). The token is used to authenticate requests to Discogs and is stored by the application on your device.
Use of Discogs services is also subject to Discogs’ own privacy policy and terms.
Discogs integration is optional. Groove Tracker can be used without supplying a Discogs Personal Access Token, although some features will not be available.
3. Camera and photos
Groove Tracker may request access to your device’s camera.
Camera access is used for features such as scanning record barcodes and taking photographs of releases.
Images that you choose to add to Groove Tracker are stored as part of your local application data unless you explicitly export or share them.
4. Microphone and BPM detection
Groove Tracker may request access to your device’s microphone when you choose to use the BPM listening/detection feature.
Audio is analysed temporarily on the device for the purpose of estimating tempo/BPM.
Groove Tracker does not intentionally save or upload microphone recordings as part of this feature.
Microphone access is only required when using functionality that needs it.
5. Location
Groove Tracker may optionally request access to approximate location information.
If you choose to use this feature, approximate location may be used to add general location information, such as a city or region, to DJ session information or exported session records.
The app is not intended to record precise GPS tracking or maintain a history of your movements.
Location functionality is optional.
6. Exports and backups
Groove Tracker allows you to create exports or backups of information from the application.
These files are only created when you choose to use the relevant export or backup function.
Once a file has been exported, saved, copied, uploaded or shared outside Groove Tracker, its storage and handling are controlled by the destination you choose and are no longer under the control of the application.
Users should therefore take appropriate care when sharing or storing exported files.
7. Internet access
Groove Tracker requires internet access for certain optional online features, particularly Discogs searches, release information, artwork retrieval and related services.
Normal local collection, setlist and session-management functionality may operate without an internet connection, although online information will not be available.
8. Advertising and tracking
Groove Tracker does not contain advertising.
Groove Tracker is not designed to track users across other applications or websites for advertising purposes.
9. Sale of personal information
Groove Tracker does not sell users’ personal information.
10. Children
Groove Tracker is designed as a music collection and DJ utility and is not specifically directed at children.
Users should comply with the age requirements applicable to Google Play, Discogs and any other third-party services they choose to use.
11. Deleting your data
Groove Tracker provides functionality for deleting locally stored application data.
You can also remove Groove Tracker from your device using Android’s normal application-management functions. Depending on Android device settings, clearing the application’s storage or uninstalling the application will remove locally stored application data.
Files that you have previously exported, copied or shared outside the app will not necessarily be removed when Groove Tracker’s local data is deleted.
12. Third-party services
Groove Tracker may interact with third-party services, particularly Discogs and Google Play.
Information processed by those services is subject to their respective privacy policies and terms. Groove Tracker does not control the privacy practices of third-party services.
13. Security
Reasonable measures are taken to limit access to information stored by Groove Tracker and to avoid unnecessarily transmitting user information.
No method of electronic storage or transmission can, however, be guaranteed to be completely secure.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when Groove Tracker’s functionality changes or when changes are required to comply with applicable legal or platform requirements.
The date at the top of this page will indicate when the policy was most recently updated.
