1. Samantha’s Beach Holiday
Last July I (go) on a beach holiday to Mallorca in Spain with my best friend, Anna. The flight from London (be) only two hours, so the journey (be) easy. When we (arrive) at the airport, we (collect) our suitcases and (take) a taxi to our hotel. It (be) modern, very clean, and our room (have) a balcony with a wonderful view of the sea.
The weather (be) sunny and hot every single day. During the day we (go) swimming in the sea, (sunbathe) on the beach, and sometimes (rent) a boat. We also (walk) around the town, (explore) little shops, and (buy) souvenirs for our families.
In the evenings we usually (go) to restaurants and (try) local food, like paella and fresh seafood. Sometimes we just (sit) on the beach, (watch) the sunset, and (take) photos. I (have) a fantastic time. The only small problem (be) that one day I (forget) my sun cream and (get) sunburnt, but apart from that it (be) perfect.
2. David’s City Break
In April I (go) on a city break to Paris with my brother, Tom. We (travel) by train from London, which (be) comfortable and very fast. We (stay) in a small guesthouse near the city centre. The room (be) simple but clean, and the owners (be) really friendly.
The weather (be) mixed. One day it (be) sunny, but the next day it (rain) a little. That didn’t (stop) us. During the day we (visit) the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and Notre Dame Cathedral. We (use) a map and a guidebook, and we even (go) to the tourist information office for advice. We also (go) shopping for clothes and (buy) some souvenirs.
In the evenings we usually (eat) in cafés and (try) croissants and other French food. One night we (take) a boat trip along the River Seine. It (be) beautiful with all the lights on the water. I really (enjoy) the holiday. The only problem (be) that our train home (be) delayed, so we (have) to wait at the station for two hours. But that didn’t (spoil) the trip.
3. Maria’s Cultural Holiday
Last September I (travel) to Italy for a cultural holiday. I (go) alone because I (want) to explore at my own pace. My destination (be) Florence, a city full of history and art. I (stay) in a small apartment in the centre. It (be) comfortable and (have) a little kitchen, so I sometimes (cook) my own meals.
The weather (be) warm and sunny, perfect for walking. During the day I (visit) museums and art galleries, and I (spend) hours looking at famous paintings. I also (join) a guided tour and (learn) a lot about the history of Florence. I (see) many beautiful churches and squares, and I (use) a map to explore the small streets.
In the evenings I usually (go) to small restaurants and (eat) delicious Italian food like pasta and pizza. I (love) walking around the city centre at night, I (take) photos and (enjoy) the atmosphere. I (have) a wonderful time. The only difficulty (be) that one evening I (get) lost, but a kind local (help) me find my way back to the apartment.
