Grammar: Narrative tenses for anecdotes and stories.

Last week I (work) in my office when I (get) a call from a client that I (not speak) to for a long time.

This morning I was walking to work when I (notice) a building which I (see) many times before, but this morning it (look) different somehow.

Yesterday afternoon, I (think) about a problem that I (experience) the week before. I thought of a few potential solutions, so I (get) a pen and (write) them down.

So I tried these things in order, first I (call) a friend, but she didn’t know, so I (look) on the internet but still couldn’t find an answer. Finally I (go) to see my boss to explain that I was having problems. After I showed her my difficulties, she apologized and (say) that she (send) me the wrong specifications!

While I (talk) to a colleague my phone (ring). I didn’t answer but a few minutes later it (ring) again, and again and again!. Finally I (answer) it and it was my colleague’s wife! She (try) to contact him for the previous few hours to tell him some great news.
