I can’t believe how much work we’ve put into this house, but it’s starting to look amazing. When we bought it, the previous owner had already had the roof , so at least we didn’t have to worry about that. Right after buying the house, we new electrics installed because the wiring was outdated and unsafe. We also the old windows replaced—the previous ones were draughty, and now we’ve got these beautiful double-glazed ones installed. Honestly, it made a world of difference.
Next, we had to get the plumbing . The pipes were ancient, so we a plumber to come in and sort everything out. We even the bathroom tiles re-grouted while we were at it, and it made the whole space feel fresh. After that, we had the walls repainted. I love the new color—we had the painters come over last week to get it done. It was a lot of effort, but the results are just beautiful.
We also had the kitchen cabinets refaced. Instead of getting brand-new ones, we had someone come in and give the old cabinets a whole new look. It saved a bit of money, and they look just as good as new. Oh, and we the garden cleared too. I got someone to come over and trim all the bushes and remove the weeds. Now, it feels like a proper place where I want to sit with my morning coffee.
Right now, we’re a few more things done. We’re having the basement waterproofed because there were signs of moisture, and we’re also getting some new light fixtures installed throughout the house. By the end of the month, we will have had all the lighting , which will make such a difference in the atmosphere.
And let’s not forget the flooring—we had the carpets and got hardwood floors installed. I love the warmth it brings to the place. We even had the front door replaced; the new one makes such a statement. Next week, we will be having the front garden landscaped, and it should be finished by the time our guests arrive next month. I suppose you could say we’re really getting everything done, one step at a time, and it finally feels like it’s coming together.
There are still a few things left, though. We’re planning to the driveway resurfaced, and I’m also thinking of having a pergola in the backyard. By this time next year, we will have had all the major renovations completed, and we will be having a big celebration to mark the occasion. It’s been a lot of work, but when you see things taking shape, it’s all worth it. I’m just so excited to have all of these projects completed and to really start enjoying our home.
